Workflows

Of course, no discussion about workflow would be relevant without
understanding the content that is being created in that workflow.

IOW, are folks just creating drawings with the most basic of
annotations, or is there more complex descriptions and narrative flow
from page to page with text? Do the drawings need to be repurposed for
the web, as single images each or a collection only to be viewed as a
PDF document? Do images have to be reused individually, or as a
collection?

Workflows [was: How to Get Into ... Best Job Title]

I'd be interested in seeing what other people's workflows are for IA
documentation. We've used several in the past and have found one that
has improved our productivity (more below). But I'd be interested in
the solutions some of you have come up with.

One of the things that improves a product's adoption rate is a product
that supports or mimics existing workflows.

As an example, we recently finished up a great deal of user research
for a set of applications focused on recruiting, selection, and
orientation of new employees, as well as ongoing career development.

Just finished Me++ by Bill Mitchel, former dean of
MIT's school of architecture and "media lab" guru.

Its a good summary of where "architecture" and
interaction are heading toward being one and the same.

Simple read, nicely put together.

Agreed, this is a better relationship between the computer and the user. You
can take the person out of the office but can u put a computer in the
refrigerator? There needs to be more effective ways to communicate with
computers other than with pointers.

Resume question

Hello everyone.

I'm a recently laid-off interaction designer, currently looking for
work (in NYC).

Several people have advised me to put a "technologies" section on my
resume, including the programming languages used on the projects I've
worked on. I'm a bit reluctant to do this, because I don't want people
to misconstrue it as implying that I know these languages, nor do I
particularly want to put in a disclaimer stating that I don't really
know them.

IxD education

Can we create a web resource for IxD education?

I like to think that most people are like me - with the exception of decades
of study we'll never be experts in all the relevant fields. But with a bit
of guided instruction, we can become knowledgable in all or most relevant
areas, and we can become superior in 1 or 2.

ADMIN: Digest options (complaints received)

Hey there IxDers!

So funny, someone asked me about a month ago to look at the digest
functionality of our list and give him/her some advice about how to make it
work better for them. It was the first time I subscribed as a digest user
(never really saw the point if I have a folder w/ a filter; same effect,
better results) and realized what was happening.
