Obviously, I have my opinion, but I can see energy where it exists and who
am I to detract from it.

I would suggest that anyone wishing to follow Clifton lead on this, do
exactly that. Clifton Carrie Ritchie, and myself are the only members of the
tools & resources initiative that is ongoing right now for the IxD group. If
you are truly interested in seeing the tools and resources initiative take
on an open source approach I suggest you lend Clifton, Carrie, and I a hand
to help make it happen. There is nothing in the current suggestions that
don't fit within that plan.

I think that Flash and other dynamic tools could explain to developers
the need for certain designs, but there is a limitation there in that
you have to think somewhat 'logically and rationally' just to make the
exact bit of interface you need to explain. It's an uphill battle for
most designers to understand script in the slightest. Requiring
scripting on a design team is going to limit who you can hire,
substantially.

I think we are better to try to explain the assets of code to
designers.

Hi Todd,

Open Source (I get really confused when you used OS b/c that means operating
system to me) is a mystery to me.

I mean how do we as IxD just go out and create a design on top of an open
source project? How do we do that w/o also having connection to the kernal
of the application we want to effect? How do our processes for research and
analysis fit into the process of an always moving target of many if not all
of the open source movement?

When I think about throwing my hat in the ring these are the areas that keep
me from jumping in.
