ADMIN: RE: Call for action (was: ADMIN: OT - Wireless Job)

Manu's post brings up an important issues. I realized I was speaking in
tongue.

What is "moderation"?

1. It means that messages are held until I can review them. For a point of
record every first time poster has their messages "moderated"

2. I have told Ziya that he will be limited to no more than 3 postings per
thread per day ... On this list that could still be 1000 messages if done
right.

I don't want a discussion on list moderation. Just writing in to
re-iterate what Dave said and what it means for this list.

Ziya has been taken off the list.

Experience design is hot in 2005

An exerpt from Forrester Research [1] report on customer experience trends
in 2005 [176 large North American companies surveyed]:

--------------
+ Only 24% of respondents have a single person responsible for
customer experience -- led by the services sector, where 36% of firms
assign this role to an exec.

+ For 34% of companies, increasing sales from existing customers is
their most important customer-facing objective for the year -- but not
in the utilities and telecom sectors, where 38% of respondents look to
cut costs.

+ Since companies expect customer interactions to increase, 64% of

I don't want to discuss this ...

I have put both Ziya and Allen on moderation because of the back and forth
of this thread. People can feel free to send me questions and I will try to
answer when I can, but ...
1. People are responsible for reading the guidelines of this community
before they post. They are available at http://discuss.ixdg.org with other
helpful information about the list.

2. The steering committee members and the people they empower are the ones
who moderate this list.

Any photo-sharing apps out thereforarchitects-designers?

Sure, I see what you are saying, & it's a real trap, especially if the
existing app is a 'successful' one.

Any photo-sharing apps out there forarchitects-designers?

Ziya, I totally intend to take bold steps with this one; but it's good to
know what's out there so that when one is presenting to a group of critics &
one is told that the feature one was oh -so- proud of has been done better
by so-and-so :). One does not want surprises like that, does one?

Thea, do you mean you needed an app that would enable you to share image &
other media files with your group? I agree about having the site usable by
folks using slower connections.

Thanks Donna, the link you suggest seems very apt.

Any photo-sharing apps out there for architects-designers?

Hi All,

I am working on building this web-based application for my thesis project. Essentially it will enable architects & designers to do the following:

1.Upload work-related pictures to a central webspace .

2. Attach metadata to them such as time, project, group of people, location etc.
.
3. Annotate them using text as well as audio and doodles / drawing marks.

4. Search these pictures along various dimensions.

5. Share these with a designated group of colleagues.

I will be particularly exploring innovative ways of data visualization, as well as information display.
