International/Global/Localization help needed

Hello Everyone.
I need to evaluate usability of several career sites. All of the sites
have an international component, which is what my evaluation is
focusing on. All of the sites are part of larger American company
sites. Can anyone point me to UI resources that outline standards
specifically for international audiences? I'm currently looking to
Aaron Marcus and Emile Gould article titled: Cultural Dimensions and
Global Web User-Interface Design: What? So What? Now What?

Many thanks in advance

DHTML Modal dialogs

There's been a fair amount of discussion on the list lately about
DHTML technology and how it pertains to interface design.

I just wrote up a small article on how to implement cross-browser
DHTML modal dialogs that some of you might be interested in. I'd be
interested to hear everyone's feedback not only on the technique but
the usability aspects of it.

Check it out - http://www.subimage.com/sublog/subModal/

"Measures" in User Experience Design

Does anyone here know - what should be the "measures" of designing for
user experience? Issues like fun, pleasure, enjoyment are merely
abstract concepts but how could a designer actually apply them into
their design? I would appreciate if anybody in this group could me
some links, etc.

Thanks in advance

Whitepaper on MDI vs. SDI interfaces?

Is there anyone who could point me toward some references that describe the
benefits of SDI interfaces over MDI interfaces (not tabbed MDI -
window-in-window MDI).

Anybody from Portland (Oregon) out there?

Seeking all folks from Portland Oregon who'd like to occasionally and
informally find a beer or coffee and talk about all things UX, IA or IxD.
Since I don't believe we have any local groups for any of these, we might
as well start an umbrella one. We're too small a community to split hairs.

I propose calling it PixDuXia, just because it's fun.

It's got the IxD, the UX, the IA and it's located in PDX.

First meeting will be sometime in March, after the IA Summit, somewhere.
Details very TBD.

RE: Where Interaction Sits.

Not sure what is wrong w/ Interaction Design.
We design the behaviors of systems as they interact with humans.

In the UCD world (those disciplines created around UCD, not ones that impact
it like Visual Design who's origins go to unrelated areas).

Where Interaction Sits.

I'm just throwing this out there but my current experience with sapient
is leading me to think that the term 'Interaction Design /
Architecture' has a position in UE that is locatable and almost
inoffensive. I think it sits right in between 'Information
Architecture' and 'Interface Design', and doesn't actually replace the
second, and so I'm referring my work within this project entitled as
Interaction Architecture, on purpose, though with hesitation.

Please, if someone can come up with a word between Architecture and
Design, I would think Interaction Something-Or-Rather, i.e.
