Re: [WebGUI] Correction: URL of RIA posting

My company is currently in the process of developing a suite of
applications using ULC (Ultra-Light Client by Canoo
http://www.canoo.com/ulc/) as the rich client platform.

Correction: URL of RIA posting

http://www.sys-con.com/story/?storyid=47364&de=1

I tested this myself and it works. I see the difference in the URL now.

Anyway ... Should be fine now. Thanx Alice for pointing out the problem.

New interactive museum guide

The Getty has launched a new handheld museum guide,
integrating video, audio, and wireless location-based
programming.

There also seems to be some integration with the
Getty's web site.

RIA reason (tad off-topic but connected to previous threads)

http://sys-con.com/story/?storyid=47364

The above link is a pretty techie reason why RIAs are invaluable for a
certain level of application development. It talks about the messaging layer
in HTTP/HTML solutions that no matter how robust DHTML/XHTML becomes it will
sit upon.

I'd be interested in hearing other people's thoughts about this.

I think since we had a long discussion about RIAs in the past that it is
something that interests a good number of people here.

CSS and impact on search

I've got a question on CSS/HTML and search engine placement. The
question is regarding using CSS's display: none; as a method to include
links in a page and whether or not that would impact the search engine
placement (Google specifically).

The scenario is a search interaction for a website that uses a
scrolling text box to select a state w/a "next" button vs. just text
links for the states - this is one step in the "search/filter" process.

Fw: Concept drawings? "prototypes"?

This is very interesting to me too. Toward my thesis project, I am
exploring
visualization techniques, & it seems free drawing is top of the list for
coneptualizing & probably even before, freeing up the mind. It's not just
designers that practice this either, great scientists did too.

Concept drawings? "prototypes"?

http://www.wired.com/news/space/0,2697,66457,00.html?tw=wn_tophead_1

This is an article in wired.com about concept drawings for NASA and other
space agencies.

The reason I bring it here, is to point out an example of where
non-working-prototypes are valuable total product lifecycle process.

The artist put it this way:

"Conceptual space art provides the initial glimpse at what could be," said
Rawlings.
