This issue has some interesting thoughts on Design by the ³father² of
information architecture Richard Saul Wurman.

One assertion that bugs the heck out of me, is that he thinks that price
didn¹t keep designers from TED. Sheesh!

stereotype vs. persona vs archetype

stereotype of the target user?
As we have seen from the preceding discussion, a stereotype is a
charicature - it emphasises extreme features (wears nothing but black) or
comic features (weird glasses). By contrast, an archetype is a
characterisation of typical, salient or defining features. What we as
designers want to identify is the archetypal features of our
users/customers.

stereotype vs. persona

Hi everyone,

The recent thread on stereotyping designers made me wonder: In your
experience with creating personas, how similar were they to the
stereotype of the target user? Was your first impression completely
off-base, or was it actually pretty close to the final product?

On the same note, was your *client's* view close, or way off?
