Looking for a pledge, or ideas for same, concerning designing interactions

Hi folks,

The context for this request is the possibility that
I may resume the teaching of a methodology that can be
used to help designers build interactive systems that
more powerfully lead users to satisfying ends, but
that *could* be used in a strongly perverse way.

I would like to hear of examples of, or even your ideas
for, a pledge you might agree with and to sign up for.

"Military Mistake Caused Data Leak"

Shouldn't the US Army document management software have a _working_
black ink button instead of the disappearing black ink button?

I wonder how many millions of $$$ will be spent to prevent this kind of
"human error" in the future.

re: Samsung Article in Wired

Hey Dave,

Thanks for the article, it's good to read about companies (especially former underdog) making
the right decisions and risks - esp. betting big on design.

Lotus Notes S*cks! ... I know that isalmostubiquitous, but here is definitive proof!

btw... IBM lotus notes design team is taking usability survey of their
forthcoming product design. On one of the usability forums, I received this
mail. Check out the designs that they have in mind for lotus notes:

Dear Usability Tester,

In the past, you have participated in or have expressed interest in
testing the usability of IBM/Lotus software. The knowledge that we
acquire from these tests is invaluable and I am once again offering
you an opportunity to influence the direction of our products.

Organizational Placement of a Usability Group

I am currently wrestling with the issue of the best organizational fit
for a Usability Group.

Eric Schaffer devoted a section to this issue in his book
"Institutionalization of Usability".

reboot7: Copenhagen.dk, June 10-11

reboot 7.0
June 10-11
Copenhagen
Denmark

reboot is the european meetup for the practical visionaries who are building tomorrow one little step at a time, using new models for creation and organization -- in a world where the only entry barrier is passion.
reboot is two days in june filled with inspiration, perspective, good conversations and interesting people.

This year¹s theme is the new ways ahead. After more than 10 years of old ways of creation, old values, and old models for communicating and organizing ourselves, new ways are emerging. That is what reboot7 is about.
