Stategic benefits of "Web 2.0"

Folks, I heard about "web 2.0" enough times in recent past to start
wondering what this is all about. I have heard people advocating it as if
this will solve everything. I have heard otherside arguing that people even
don't understand web 1.0, so why bother. I am wondering what you all think.
1. What is "strategic benefit" of adopting Web 2.0?
2. For what kind of firms/industry/business is this "mission critical"? And
who shall not bother to get in the race?
3. Example of firms who have done it and have taken comparative advantage in
the market place.

Forgotten Passwords

I've seen sites using both the "e-mail temporary password" and
"answer security question(s)" methods for resetting passwords. Does
anyone have any data on usability (or security) issues with either
one, or other (better) methods for dealing with forgotten password

Designing for a 3D environment

Hi all,

If you or someone on your team has 3D design skills, this might be an
interesting product ( with free evaluation ), and competition to check out.

For those who have an interest in 3D design, but haven't been involved
with a 3D project, this might be a fun exercise to start the virtual
ball rolling.

Door handles & Usability

Open HouseHi,

We all know about "Door Handles > Affordance > Usability." Here is an icing on cake. [IMHO]
http://brighthandle.com/ Comments welcome. I'd love to see know this idea can be streched
to future products [offline products with internet connectivity] and what could be the role of
UI designer [Or some Designer - but dont get me started on that]

What are peoples general opinion on premade CMS systems such as drupal or magnolia

I use them for basic site design/mangement for simple worthless sites. Is
this all they are good for? Which ones are the best? Whats your experience
with them?

Personal and Ubiquitous Computing Call for Papers

I have nothing to do with the below, but it came my way and since they
actually have IxD in their sub-title below, I thought it worthy to send to
the list.

Design docs

Hello all,

I am in the process of creating a document that a UI designer/information
architect would ideally extract from and record in his first few meetings
with the clients/development team. It should also serve as a document that
the team can go back to and refer in case of doubts emerging in course of
development. At the least, the document should act as a base for the UI
designer to design the information flow and user interaction.

Can anybody help me with that? Is there such a document ready? Or some such
material in place? Any kind of help is appreciated.
