Task Analysis Exercises for Groups

Hi Folks

A colleague and I am going to be doing some field research in the near
future, and we are looking for specific activities or exercises that can
be used to elicit information from users regarding their job and work
culture. Ideally, we would be using some of the ideas introduced in
Contextual Design, but we have some constraints on time.

Design professional getting an MBA?

Hi all,

Since getting out of college a couple years ago, I have been employed as
an interaction designer at a software company. I really love the work,
it's what I want to be doing for years to come, however I have noticed
(as many people have discussed on this board numerous times) a
disconnect between the business, development and design. Lately, I have
been thinking about applying to business school, hopefully to gain
perspective and help address this gap between all parties.

I would like to get any of your opinions on whether this move would be
successful or not.

Designing for the cultural 'other' (was Ethnographicresearch methods)

Thank you, Anirudha. I enjoyed your post. A couple of comments....

> Marc: ...U.S. companies conducting field work in India and/or China. They
[employed] local people to use as researchers.... Which I thought was
helpful if less than ideal.

> Anirudha: Just curious: what do you exactly mean by 'less than ideal'.

You anticipated my reasons in your response.

UI patents

Hello everyone!

I have been mining the web via google for information about u.s.
patents granted for (graphical) user interfaces.

Does anyone have any knowledge of information repositories of ui
patents, critical reviews of these patents that would maybe
contain understandable summaries of the patents or other publications
that might summarize gui patents somehow??

Best regards,
