Anyone here a private beta tester for Flock? Are there anymore insights to
this new "Web 2.0" browser than what is in this article by Wired?

AND! What do people think of their approach to Web-Design ... Just look at
the site?

Thought other peolple on the list will find it interesting - hope it is
not an oldy...

I'm not sure what I think about it, in a first quick look the toolbars
look a bit confusing, aren't they?

How to improve the user experience for a web application with purpose to help end-users integrate multiple web applications with each other

I read the mailing list daily and I believe I can get a lot of good insights
from you on some questions we have regarding how to make the software we are
working on more user friendly.

We have built a software helping non-technical users build custom, fully
integrated web applications, using our web application (we have various
versions of it - WebFusion Studio and Drag drop site creator). One of the
hardest part for us is to make users realize that they have a full
application running in their browser.

NYC UPA Event, Sept 20: Kara Pernice Coyne, Nielsen Norman Group

NYC Usability Professionals' Association presents:
"Emotion in Design": Testing Emotional Effectiveness of Designs

Studying usability, success and task time, can tell you which designs are
easy to use and why. But accurately learning about what people like and care
about is quite different, and unfortunately, difficult to do. Kara Pernice
Coyne, Director of Research at Nielsen Norman Group, will talk about the
evolving method the company has been working on for years.

UX guidelines for Windows Vista.

Microsoft has released preliminary (version 0.7) UX guidelines for
upcoming Windows Vista. You can get them at http://tinyurl.com/9566c

It's (obviously) unfinished and rather messy, but contains some
(blurry) illustrations and gives the general taste of things to come.

Be warned that what you'll get is a .exe file that uncompresses to a
local set of HTML pages. Also, you can't even download it from
anything else than a genuine Windows system. I've copy-pasted the
contents for those who might have problems getting it:

FW: info on Button Behavior

Jerry John said:

"i'm looking for a good reason to leave the button disabled ..."

I think leaving the button enabled can induce the user to see the next set
of results when there are none...forcing the user to load another page where
he or she will be warned of that fact. I would definitely disable it.

Best Regards

info on Button Behavior

hey all -
i need some help here! Scenario: ... when in a 'searchlist display page'
that runs into more than one page, and at the last page :- would you disable
the "Next" button? i have a reason to say why not "... that coz I can use
this instance to give the user information why there is no content to
display" ; i was wondering if it would be rude to the user to disabled a
button .... - i'm looking for a good reason to leave the button disabled ...

any takers? ? ?
