User Interface Designer, D&B Global Platforms - 6 month contract

Flash designer needed (freelance)

This person must be in SF. It will be a combination of remote work & onsite meetings.
We currently have a project that requires a flash artist/developer. We need a flash presentation on our website for a product demo, which is a mobile phone sports game.

This is just freelance work and will require 2-3 weeks worth of work, but will lead to more work.

Looking for a camcoder

Hi everyone,

I am looking for a camcoder to record users in the hospital. As I
might need to do some night recordings as well, I definitely need a
camcoder with a night shot feature for recordings with 0 lux (which
means a infrared recording). Another requirement is a standard audio
in, to be able to connect any kind of microphone (in opposite to
Sony's "Active interface Shoe).

Usability of Multicolumn text

I have been often confronted with the question of how end-users feel
about multi-column text. For an example, look at http://www.apple.com/
pro/profiles/jwtwo/. Visually, it can be very beatiful, but then
someone always asks whether or not people are willing to scroll up
and down for an article. I don't know. As a gut reaction, most people
we talk to internally think that this should be avoided. Has anyone
done any testing around this or have a particularly strong opinion?

What would you do to improve Word's outlining feature?

they refer to Word's "outlining feature.")

Audio feedback in HTML-based web applications

Hi all,

I am wondering if anyone has any thoughts/ideas/research on audible feedback
in modern web applications. The reason I ask is that it seems to me these
days that audio tends to be largely ignored, especially with the recent push
for more DHTML/AJAX/Javascript-based applications (as opposed to
Flash-platform-based apps). Is this partially because the technology just
doesn't readily support it? (Though Flash does, and there are workarounds
for the issue, like this one:
