I'm looking various ways by which other interaction designers gather
feedback from stakeholders during the design and development process.
What I'm looking for are some effective ways by which feedback can be
elicited and managed internally and externally. At the end of the day
is red pen on print outs the best solution or do software based
solutions like Acrobat's feedback tools work better in the long run?
I haven't seen many other options out there for my stakeholders to
associate comments directly to parts of of the page, any suggestions?

IxD and related roles - is it about naming or type of company/products?

hi,

Does anyone know of a diagram or scheme that situates IxD and other
related (or somewhat) positions?

Last weekend I met a few friends all coming from an engineering
degree, working in different countries and having related roles (I'm
simplifying a bit!!) but with different names. To mention a few of the
roles: Interaction Designer, Functional Analyst, User Experience,
Business Analyst.

The work is done and presented in different ways, however there is a
common item - gathering user needs and specifying them.

E-commerce Navigation

I am looking for some recent research done on the navigation of an
e-commerce website (menus, breadcrumbs, etc.). Everything I've run into so
far has been dated. Can someone point me in the right direction?

Meaningful labels

Somehow, before I started with my current employer, a decision was made
(arbitrarily) to use "OK/Cancel" buttons for everything they applied to,
regardless of whether or not something else, like "Apply" or "Save", would
offer more meaning.

This morning I was asked to present my case for why to avoid using the same
button labels in every case, and instead use something more meaningful when
it makes sense to do so.

Usability in numbers

Hi all,

Do you know some "big" numbers on usability?

I'm looking for generic statements (with references) like these
fictional ones: "50 000 people died over the past decade due to poor
usability in medical equipment" or "90% of fatal aircraft accidents
are caused by inadequate design" or "long-term company success
significantly correlates with the amount of funding provided for
usability".

Is there an interactive newspaper

Looking at the different designs for newspapers and the way different
cultures interact with the different formats, I arrived at a question
which i wanted to pose for discussion.

What is an interactive newspaper, is there an example of an
interactive newspaper?

How can we as designers rethink of new ways to allow the users to
gather their own news into a platform?

Taking into consideration the cultural and social aspect of the
newspaper how can we devise a universal newspaper which can afford
different language while still retaining the pictorial and visual
quality?

IxD for building a list

I'm looking for a mechanism to build a list through
user input. Basically, the user should be able to add
one item and stop, add multiple items in sequence, or
cancel.

What we are considering is user input fields followed by
buttons with:

Add | Add & New | Cancel

Does this seem like the best solution? Is there something else to
consider?

What would be considered "the bible" on UCD?
(if there is such a thing)

I've got a few good books, but want to recommend
a single book to an employee.
