Online user experience evaluation tools?

Hi all -
A few years ago, I used the Vividence XPress user experience testing tools
to run some user testing. It allowed you to upload a starting URL, a
task-based script and questions for the user to answer. Test subjects
downloaded a small client-side piece which allowed them to complete the
tasks at home, at their leisure, and then the consolidated results report
was available for me.

It was a really great tool for certain types of evaluation - but it looks
like Keynote dumped the XPress suite after acquiring Vividence.

Disillusioned Junior Designers

Hi,

I want to share with the list an email I just received from one of my
students.

==

It's been an extremely bumpy road with [COMPANY]. Irony of ironies, I of
all people ended up at a company that is still primarily focused on
visual design and cute little animations. After a year of beating my
head against the management wall, trying to incorporate interaction
design/research, i can't do it anymore. They've broken promises,
changed directions monthly, and i haven't had a boss or mentor to speak
of the entire time i've been here.

Good Flash/Actionscript reference

Hi,

We've been working on learning Flash and Actionscript so as to prototype in
it for our interface, but we run into a few problems, and we can't seem to
find good solutions or really good references to help us through the
problems we've run into.

Mostly our issues relate to know how to correctly code the actionscript
within the Flash file. Do any of you know of any really excellent references
for that?

Thanks!

What is an interactive news carrier?

Look at Google News(http://news.google.com) they give you the same
story covered in different newspapers. You would want to read all of
them but that would take forever. Why not just read the first article
and then summaries of how the others are different from the first.
That's what my website does. It allows people to post so called diffs
between two articles for the rest to read.

Please have a look at http://newster.fonetag.tv

Properties and States

I have been trying to figure out why the radio buttons for published/draft
status in some blog applications seem wrong to me. (maybe they aren't)

I am thinking that this has to do with the difference between properties and
states of an object. I am thinking that states and properties should be
applied in different ways.

I have been looking for a good differentiating definition of states and
properties. What I think is that:

Properties - deal with a single aspect of an object.
