Information Architecture or Interaction Design

What's the different between Information Architecture and Interaction Design?

As IA is short for for Information Architecture, what's the most common acronym for Interaction Design?

Thank you guys.

Thoughts on skinning/customizing enterprise apps?

I am often presented with the idea of skinning or
providing customizaton for the presentation of our
enterprise apps.

Any thoughts on the real user benefits/value of this?

I ask because I am against doing things "just because we can",
and there are many issues to consider - breaking branding and
identity, support concerns, etc.

If the customization options are trivial (e.g allow users to change
the color of window title bars) it would lessen the concerns, but
then how beneficial is it really to users?

Bill Moggridge talk at Ideo tonight

Hi All,

I saw a nice talk by Bill Moggridge at Ideo in Palo Alto this evening where
he presented some parts of his new book, "Designing Interactions". There is
a nice web companion to the book at:

http://www.designinginteractions.com/
The video interviews are great. Check out his interview with Bill Verplank.
I did not know that Moggridge and Verplank were the originators of the name
"interaction design" for what we do.

JOB: IxD and Design Communicator, NYC

Are all these job posts starting to sound alike? This
one is different:

Liquidnet is hiring interaction designers and design
communicators. If you’re interested in doing good work
for good money with good people, you should look into
these positions.

Liquidnet is one of the most interesting companies
I’ve come across. It’s a design-centric organization
with a great product, a great business, a culture of
innovation, and a big vision. This combination was
enough to lure me away from my 10+ year consulting
career.
