alternative to scrolling

This may be old hat to everyone else (always begin with a disclaimer),
but I was interested to see http://www.treehugger.com's answer to
looooong screens: clickable panels to the right of the main content
which jump you down to the next "screen" (their term for a discrete
piece of content).

Technically, it's just a fancied-up local link, but conceptually it's
pretty interesting.

Check out the D blog for thougths on Design Planning and The Economics of Design

Little did I know until today that one of my good friends and former teachers has started his own blog what you can see here:

The D blog is by Jeremy Alexis, a faculty member at The Institute of Design (www.id.iit.edu<http://www.id.iit.edu>) . It's primary purpose is to summarize what it passed on in his class each week.

Determining Location

We have several features on our site that are location dependent -- as one
example, we only sell certain products in certain regions. Currently, we ask
people to click on a region in a world map.

We're currently looking at MaxMind:

(was that accurate for you?)

We aren't thinking of relying solely on the results of that in every
context, just trying to make some smarter display decisions.

Two questions:

1.) Does anyone have any experience using any of these services??
ip2location? Maxmind?
