Old guard vs new guard designers 2

Katie, (sent incorrectly the first time)

I honestly do not think that we are disagreeing in princilple. Design, and designers deliver lots that is not visual and in visual form. And it alwasy behoves us to sell those intangibles as well as reinforce their value. I do however, think that the abiltiy to solve problems and model constructs visually is a crucial skill in this feild (but that is really a separate issue)/

I am curious though - how sternly should we demand that our audience - critics, clients, and co-workers, reorient their pre-existing thought sabout what we deliver and do?

Thoughts about animations/transitions in GUI

Thoughts about animations/transitions in GUIs

I'm at the moment studding animations in GUI's .

I hope that the list can provide me with some thoughts about the use
of animations/transitions in GUI’s.

And I hope that the list can help finding relevant literature/papers/
sites that have worked with this issue.

I belive that animations have a unique function as an element that
can provide GUI with both functional and esthetic features,

The mid nineteens discussion about the use of Flash in websites is
not the aim, (-: as I'm very interested in the greater aspects o

IA Cocktail Hour Amsterdam --> UX Cocktail Hours Amsterdam

[apologies if you see this message more than once, and congrats on being in the right places ;-)]

For those interested in meeting fellow user experience practitioners when traveling in Europe (and obviously those that live or work close to Amsterdam) I'd like to point your attention to the following announcement.

Since 2001 I have been organizing IA Cocktail Hours in Amsterdam, about 6 a year. These events have always been frequented by a mix of people with and without the job title Information Architect, and with or without a strong focus on IA in their work.

Eclipse RCP experience?

Hi all,

I'm wondering if anyone here has worked on Eclipse RCP applications
and has experience, tips, or pointers to share. In particular, I'm
looking for:

- Examples of good IxD in applications built on this platform
- Design patterns and anti-patterns
- Prototyping approaches: paper/software/going straight to code/...

Thanks in advance!
