Agile+UCD best practice sharing session in the SF Area in August - Responses requested

[Apologies for the cross-posting]

Hi everyone -
My name is Andrew Sandler, and I manage the User Interface Design team
at Salesforce.com. Last October we made an organizational-wide switch to
Agile development methodologies, based mainly on Scrum. We did two small
releases that were "finished" under ADM, and we're wrapping up our first
end-to-end Agile release very soon. As part of my education, I've had a
number of interesting conversations with people on and off this list.

mobile device scrolling & text selectionproblem..

>> Scrollbar = "wheel" metaphor = move the scrollbar up to move the page down.
>> iPhone = "shoving" metaphor = move the page directly, by touching it, so the page moves in the same direction as the motion of your finger.

Anne, I have noticed it too. It reminds me of the Adobe Acrobat hand tool.

What happened to the digest version?

I just went to the beta site with the goal of changing to digest format,
but I found that I can't choose digest as an option anymore. And a
colleague of mine noticed that she hadn't received her digest email in
quite a while.

Did digest go away?

Thanks!

Event: July 26 Los Angeles IA meeting details

[cross-posted]

http://ia.meetup.com/55/calendar/5978194/

**Please RSVP in order to ensure you can park and to help us estimate how
much food to order.**

For our July meeting, we will have small group discussions (table topics).
We have planned for these 6 topics. If the group is smaller than
anticipated, we may find it better to drop a topic or two and save them for
a future meeting.

1. Promoting user-centered design in your workplace
2. IA & Interaction Design: The same or different?
3.

mobile device scrolling & text selection problem..

I need some help with ideas on how to have both scrolling and text
selection on a touch sensitive device. In trying to crack this design
problem I think I understand why text selection might have been
dropped from the iPhone release candidate.

How do you succinctly allow a user to flick a list in something like
an address book, but then within a text editor use the same effective
gesture to highlight a bunch of text?

I dont think framing the gesture based on the context of the
application is a good idea.
