Interaction Television - Need and Future

Hi all,

I'm a student of Interaction Design at IDC, IIT Bombay.
I plan to do some project on Interactive Television.

I have this trivial though interesting question.
What is the future of Television?
With the advent of Web and availability of streaming videos on www (e.g.
youtube and many more) TV sort of seems to becoming a feature rather than a

Technologists and business people are now talking about IPTV(Internet
Protocol TV) and digital TV (70% of UK homes have it).

Zygote Interactive Ball

We have posted about our project in the past but now we have a video
to share.
The video was shot by the organization in charge of BIP.
This is just the beginning of this idea.

Bill Buxton & not everyone is a designer (sub-topic)

As a complement to the ongoing discussion, I posted a blog entry

regarding some thoughts about Bill Buxton's keynote on sketching,

and Bill left a meaty comment and referenced my previous post

about why everyone is not a designer...

Big D versus little d ??

What is this Big D versus little d crud? Does that make sense
to anyone outside of this list?

Are there Big A accountants and little a accountants?
Big L lawyers and little l lawyers?

Why do people seem to take offense and assume snobbery when you
say that not everyone is a designer???? Why can I say not everyone
is a lawyer and I'm not a snob?

Multi-channel user interface design

Hi all,

Are there any particular design methods that help while designing UIs that
are available via multiple channels. e.g. items can be bought using an a)
online store; b) over the phone; c) or ordered using an in-store kiosk.

How can I create UIs that provide a consistent user experience? Each channel
will be implemented by different teams. What kind of design documents can be
created to communicate the design to various teams etc. If a particular team
runs into a problem with a design, how can changes be made to each UI
channel to reflect changes (if any)?

Translating Knowledge About Users into TaxonomyDesign

It sounds like some education about user centered design might do some
good. You could point your team towards business case for UCD and ROI
articles, and send them some high level bullets from the articles to get
their attention.

Also, card sorts might be of great value to your project. My colleagues
at my current company have had success in the past going through a
simple card sort exercise with developers and stakeholders. It really
opens their eyes to just how differently people think about information
and categorization. Great way to show the value of research.

Translating Knowledge About Users into Taxonomy Design

I'm starting a project that will require me to lead the re-design of a
large web site's taxonomy. Unfortunately, we know very little about our
user base (other than basic job function - e.g. sales people,
developers, etc.). I am advocating that some investigation be done to
give us a better sense of our users, whether that happens through
interviews, surveys, or a brainstorming session with the team involved
to get a base set of characteristics we can turn into user profiles
(validated later).

agenda of next meet

Hi all,

After an introduction meet, we need to decide the next meet for discussion.
One good news from "Prachi" is "*Mphasis/EDS*" will be providing us
infrastructure for next meet.
For that we need to decide the agenda of the meeting.
Everyone can share their views about the topic of next meeting.
