XSRF - cross-site request forgery (was: Keyurbsorathia wants to share Favorites with you)

(Maybe not the right list... but good to know)
It is actually a minor case of XSRF attack (cross-site request forgery).

The link above is a google search but it might have been transfer X
amount of money to Y. That's of course will work If your bank is
stupid enough (some are) to allow *significant and predictable*
action by HTTP request, and you're happen to be logged into your bank
account (in a different tab maybe?).

This attack is "statistic", but an attacker can send endless number
of emails.

Making Flash less browser-hostile (WAS: why is flash so awesome?)

I got lucky this week and was able to write up my research on making
Flash more browser-friendly. Whether or not the methods I found will
be adopted by our Flash devs is still TBD (but I still have my +2
Email Of Overwhelming Persuasion on hand if there's trouble).

Here are the best references I found.

how and when to estimate time and price for aGoal-Directed project

thanks for your comments!

> Fred:
> Consider breaking the project into several distinct phases.

The problem is exactly that they want the estimate before doing the
strategy/research phase :(

> Joseph:
> you need to give them a cost so they can decide whether to go ahead
> with their project, or compare your cost to other bidders.
to know all costs before they can green light the project.

Exactly. That's the case. They say the estimate don't need to be
accurate but a rough idea of how much money we're talking about.

HELP: NYC IxDA needs your space

Hey there IxDAers,

One of the hardest parts of organizing local events is getting a free space.
We rely 100% on corporate hosting here in NYC and that is my understanding
from other locales as well.

So, I am making a public request asking people if their organization would
be willing to host events for NYC IxDA in the coming months.
We are especially interested in November, but we'll need space January
onward as well. Our events usually have about 50 people or so.

Research Site UX Design (was: Examples of Dashboard Designs)

Hello, I need some help on a similar but wider topic.

My client has a site restricted for its members. The content of the
site are developed from basically benchmarking data (across industry,
practice areas). He uses survey tools to gather data from its user
base and allows individual members with reports, best practices
suggestions, insights (sort of Business Intelligence) on the
dashboards, etc.

My question is how will you enhance this product?

-- How can you utilize concepts of Social Networking to enhance participation?
Any great example, pointers, papers will help.
