Communicating the need for context and "it depends" (Was: Does eye-tracking carry any real meaning?)

Indeed. The difference between the tone of the comments on this list
and those for the original post is astounding. A little knowledge is a
dangerous thing, especially when it is backed by "actionable"
conclusions from a "scientific" study.

It is tempting to dismiss pronouncements like this as clueless. But,
the number of people who are ready to rush off and follow them is
probably much greater than the number of subscribers to this list.

HELP! IxDA Needs a Wordpress expert for the Interaction08 web site - possible conference discount for the lucky volunteer.

Hi gang,

I know we are jumping into the Holiday weekend, but our Wordpress
resource fell through recently and we have a pretty urgent need for a
wordpress expert to help us with some web site upgrades we really want
to make quickly to the Interaction08 web site
(http://interaction08.ixda.org/).

If you got the chops, we got the need and we can probably throw in for
this special and urgent need a discount for the luck volunteer.

We want to integrate a blog and some other CMS like functionality into
the site with the appropriate skin/theme.

Does eye-tracking carry any real meaning?

23 rules actionable lessons from eye-tracking studies:
http://tinyurl.com/yrhydu

I'm curious whether or not others on the list take this stuff seriously. I
haven't decided yet if I think eye-tracking is a useful tool, and although I
definitely have some opinions on the subject, I'd like some other
perspectives to form a better picture.

Several of these "actionable lessons" bother me.

Greetings everyone! New subscriber here.

Unless I'm missing something, I don't believe this conclusion can be
drawn from Luke W's article.
