Dear IxDA constituency,

OLPC: BBC article

Here's a BBC article and associated slashdot discussion.

There've been a number of articles on the popular as well as tech press,
each with a different slant (usually positive or negative, but rarely
anything in-between).

Co-Relations between Graphic - Digital Media Design

Hey Hey,

Currently, I am thinking about >>how<< does graphic design(ers)
change into interface / interactive media based design(ers),
or is it for you still the same apparently fitting in different media?

Where can we find and how can we see the difference?
where is the point designers feeling lost
or thinking that they crossing the edge from the mass media into the
digital media age?

What do you think is the difference between the old design and the
new design?

Does or doesn't the newfangled technology broaden designer's
creativity?

I would be glad if you could share w

Compiling a list of ID / IA / UX blogs

Hi Everyone,

I’d like to compile a list of ID / IA / UX blogs from people on this list.

I’m not looking for big, famous, high volume blogs (since they are already easy to discover) but rather the relatively small-volume blogs run by individuals and small companies.

If you could mail me off-list with a URL (it doesn’t have to be your own), I’ll compile an OPML file in the next week or so and mail it back to the group.

thanks very much,

Harry

Design Masters Thesis & Extent of Realization

I took part yesterday in a Thesis Committee meeting for a student
working on a project for her Masters degree in design. She is
designing a website with the purpose of facilitating a community for
female cancer victims. There was a fair amount of discussion
surrounding how far she must take the project to be granted the
degree. There were faculty members on the committee from other visual
arts disciplines, and they expect a thesis project to result in a
finished work of art.

(JOB) Interaction Design Consultants Downtown Seattle 'Recruiter' Fulltime

My client is a growing startup founded in 2000 and has been profitable since. Large and small including lots of cool startup projects are so abundant, my client is in a position where they have to turn down business. However this gives them the leisure of being able to pick and choose. It is a small collaborative atmosphere with good employee retention.

We are currently seeking an Interaction Designer who will take leadership in design-focused client engagements.

Has anyone been asked to create a directory of UI elements?

I was discussing a new project with someone from our Sales group, and
they asked me how I kept track of fields in case they were dropped
from the actual implementation for some reason.

Collaborative Design Tools

Hi Folks,

I'm looking for recommendations on a collaborative design tool that can
be used in meetings with remote teams. The tool I'm looking for
replaces the "everyone-getting-together
and-working-through-design-ideas-on-the-whiteboard", which is great
when everyone is in the same location, but doesn't work so well for
remote participants.

article on interactive identity

I wrote an article on the future of Corporate Design and how this
discipline relates to Enterprise IT, Intranet Design, Software User
Interfaces, and the expected rise of the consolidated Information
Workplace.

Since my thoughts on those topics are very much inspired by some
discussions on this list, please let me know what you think.
