MacBook Air

There's probably going to be at least one person on this list who's
got a glimpse of MBA today:

Any reports on this, particularly the multitouch interface would be appreciated.

Another issue -- there are some similarities here to the design
parameters for the Tata Nano -- strip the dang thing down to its
essence. MBA, of course, has a more elitist market than the Nano.
There's unlikely to be any issues raised regarding the possible
downsides of proliferating the Air.

The semantic future

I have been reading a lot about the semantic web of late and am wondering
what it will hold for the future of online and more specifically for us
(Ixd/IA/UE etc etc).

For instance it appears to me that if the semantic web becomes a reality
then data becomes the most important thing online and not web sites. For
instance If I want to buy a TV online in the future I will just enter my
criteria into an application and it will return all matches from across the
web. I won't need to go to Amazon, ebay, PC World etc, The data will come to
me.

Design Research companies

I'm looking for companies that do Design Research- we're looking at
Field Studies, User Testing, Heuristic Evaluations, Focus Groups &
Interviews for an eCommerce (retail) website. Is there are directory
of such companies?

Would be great if IxDA has lists of various service providers (not
just this- but design agencies, companies with ux jobs etc as well)

Web discussion interfaces

Hi there,

By working with web discussion forums and bulletin boards I’m
wondering if there exist any different, more advanced approaches to
display/present a discussion on the web and to interact with it.
Something differently to tree view or single-threaded view. Does
somebody know if there are any newer developments or did we reach the
end of development on this area some years ago?
