SEO and Usability

I'm running into an interesting conversation with more regularity
every week. That conversation surrounds the usability compromise that
sometimes occurs when optimizing pages, functionality, content
organization and linking strategies for search engines. There is
theory being preached within my company that if you optimize for
search engines, then you are optimizing for the user as well. I
disagree. I think they are two separate sets of logic, that may in
fact overlap, but are absolutely not in harmony.

Interactive design at U of Minnesota?

*Greetings forum members,*

*+* I do apologize in advance if my post is considered irrelevant a bit, I
mean if it is Academic question not some Scientific one.
*+* I Hold BA in Industrial Design and I'm about to apply for Master level
in Design. My tendencies in design are towards Products, but I do like
studying how technology is merged with products and how Interactive Design
is helpful in this way. I got some questions:

*1.? *I am intending to apply for Minnesota Interactive Design to study in

Traditional user testing vs micro design evolution (was: The death of web usability testing as we know it?)

A great discussion appears to be happening under the original topic. I wanted to further focus it into something I have been thinking a lot about recently. So I have hijacked it and created this new thread. My apologies to Oleh.

I find all of the applications coming out to do quick real time testing of alternate design solutions a great tool to have in our toolbox. But it is just another tool, not a replacement.
