New dates for IA Summit 2009

Apologies for duplication

The dates announced for the IA 09 Summit at the Peabody
Hotel in Memphis have been changed.

New dates are:

Pre cons on March 18 and 19 (Wed and Thur)
Sessions on March 20, 21, 22 (Fri, Sat and Sun)

NOTE this is also a different pattern, ending on Sunday instead of Monday.

We made this change because the prior dates may have forced
some to choose between the IA Summit and the IxDA meeting.

Formal design review process

Hi folks,

My Human Factors team colleagues and I are working to formalize our
processes at our company, and one of the areas that is new for us is the
formal design review. Right now, our UX designs are reviewed as part of the
software requirements specification (SRS), but we've found that reviewing
them at this level elicits requirements rather than design feedback (big
surprise :-)).

How do you conduct design reviews at your company? Who generally signs off
on the designs? What are the inputs/outputs for the review (wireframes,
full interaction specification, etc.)?

Do you ask for Functions or Scenarios?

Before testing: If you want a product with good UX, do you give the
programmers a list of functions or a list of scenarios?

Usually people write a functional spec for a software/website they want,
which they then give to the programmer. The programmer will create a
program/website with the functions you requested. The programmer comes back
and feels great about this product he created for you, with all the
functions you asked for, maybe even threw in a few extra.

You try the program and it has all the functions, but it is impractical.
