website-proportional size

Hello,

Anyone know what the maxiumum and minimum size of the webpage? I noticed some webpages that extend the background images behind the table without showing white outlines or underlapped. How can I code that to it? It is new to me. I have average knowledge of web programming and above average in web design. I would be appreicated.

Need suggestions for iconography

Hello All,

This is my first post to the group. I'm going to admit that the discussion
topics each day are really enlightening.

I'm involved in a project (educational software) whereby we need to come up
with an icon that represents a test the user takes to assess their skill
level before they proceed with with more advanced functionality.

The icon will be standard windows icon size.

Any suggestions for icon depiction?

[Event] Summer workshops in Malmö

The 1scale1 Critical Research Studio has prepared a selection of 7 workshops that will run over two weeks during August 2008. Between August 18th and 29th we will run 7 simultaneous workshops in open software and hardware for designers and artists at our studio in Malmo, Sweden. Themes will be related to either physical computing or computer vision.

Login / Lougout from a Usability perspective

Hi all,

In our new site we implemented the Login / Logout process ala Amazon, that
means, the user keep logged in for browsing the site and we always display a
"Hi John Doe" message on top even when the user logout from the secure part
of the site (where users upload the books).

The paradox is: now you get at the home page a "Hi John Doe, Loging". And I
think this is confusing.

What you think?

When things go bump in the night (at IxDA.org)

Hi Everyone,

You may not have noticed, but something went bump in the night on the IxDA
web site this week. After investigating an issue someone reported with our
RSS feeds, we found that someone had inserted some malicious code onto our
site. The code quietly directed visitors' browsers in the background to a
site that attempts to install malicious software on visitors' computers.

In the UK, I have heard that you can buy train tickets for trains that depart from a specific station (Marylebone) and have a bar
code appear on your mobile device.

some information, based on your extensive research and knowledge of
mobile platforms.

A client has asked about the feasibility of displaying a scannable bar
code on a mobile device, like a cell phone or PDA.

Here are my questions:

Do most devices support the requisite resolution for this to work?

Iron Man

As if dishy eye candy Robert Downey Jr. and Gwyneth Paltrow weren't
enough, the new Iron Man movie is chock-a-block with cool user
interface design. Surely interactive holographic CAD drawings are just
around the corner, right? And a heads-up display in every window of my
house?

Still, there's no tech like low-tech. I think I fell in love when the
hero sand-casts a titanium o-ring while being held captive in an
Afghan cave.
