Sketching as a Wireframing Tool

Hello IXDA people,

I'm new to this list but am enjoying the conversations and topics. Thanks
for sharing your expertise everyone!

I'm wondering how many, if any of you use pencil/pen and paper to work out
wireframes?

Transitioning from usability into IxD

Hi folks,

After one year as a usability tester under my belt, I'm considering making
the transition to IxD. My resume focuses primarily on usability studies and
methodology, but I lack significant project experience with IxD itself. What
would be the best way to indicate that I am specifically looking for IxD?

For those of you who have made the transition, would you care to share your
stories?

Many thanks,
-- Marie

IP routing and country selector native languages

I would love some feedback on IP routing based on a browser's point of
origin.

Most sites seem to use a [global] or [worldwide] link located somewhere on
the top or bottom of the page for a browser to switch country site.

Usually those links are in the native language of that country's landing
page.

My question is, does that matter?

Copywriting?

Hi,

From time to time I find myself struggling with writing very short
describing text labels and titles for our web application's UI.

Writing text labels and titles for the UI is much like writing road
signs, people go by them in very high speeds and you have a limited
amount of space.

I wanted to ask, how many of you work in companies who hire full time
copywriters? Part time?

Do you have a special UI copywriter adviser outsourced?

Or do you manage by yourselves and just advise anyone around you?

Thanks,

Amihay.

The new UI wars: Why there's no Flash on iPhone 2.0

Many reasons have been floated for why Flash isn't a good match for the
iPhone: it's slow, it hogs CPU cycles, it drains the battery, it crashes too
often, it's not optimized for Mac OS X and so on.
