ANN: Kevin Cheng's new book-in-progress

(apologies for duplicate postings)

Hi folks, just a note let you know that Kevin Cheng has begun work on
a Rosenfeld Media book, "See What I Mean: How to Use Comics to
Communicate Ideas". From his book-in-progress site
(http://www.rosenfeldmedia.com/books/comics/ ): "Comics are a unique
way to communicate, using both image and text to effectively
demonstrate time, function, and emotion. Just as vividly as they
convey the feats of superheroes, comics tell stories of your users and
your products.

Is Google trying to use human intelligence to improve search results?

Hi all,

Aiding my wife in playing around with a dream, I searched for "france
immigration" in Google. I got the following result set:

If you've ever searched for immigration info, you know that it's very
difficult to actually get government info. The companies that help you
obtain work permits, etc. crowd the top results. Google appears to be trying
to mitigate this by prompting searchers to suggest better results.

Look at the bottom left of the screenshot...

deliverables with a section on menu options with their related parameters

What is it called when you are creating deliverables with a section on menu
options with their related parameters?
Can you point me to any sample deliverables for this?
I'm most interested in references for small screens.

Here is a link to an image that describes what I am trying to document:

For example, a list in my deliverable might show

volume limit (on, off)

The other issue is creating a deliverable used by many team members.

Issues with iPhone update 2.0

Has anyone else lost their contacts, photos and calendar on their
phone but not on mac? I have tried all the "work arounds" on
apple.com and mobileme to push contacts but no joy. I contacted
iPhone tech support and await their reply.

Death to Personas!... webinar on Catalyze

Hi folks!

Hope everybody's July is going well! I always love reading people's
posts and marveling at the knowledge of our design community.

Right now I'm pimping some of my own stuff on the design research
side, letting you know that Steve Calde (long-time Cooper consultant)
and I (once-upon-a-time Cooper consultant) are presenting a webinar
through Catalyze on the topic of Personas. The presentation is called
"Death to Personas! Long Live Personas!", wherein we take on some
criticisms of personas.
