Agile & User Experience: What are the common denominators?

First - apologies to subscribers of SIGIA and IxD for cross-posting...

My name is Dave Robertson, and although you can't see him, this is my
partner, John (JJ) Johnston. We've been asked to deliver a presentation
for friends of ThoughtWorks Canada in January (to which all of you are
welcome to come, but more later). JJ is an agile guy who's interested in
user experience and I'm the user experience guy who's interested in Agile.

Volunteers for interaction09|vancouver

Hi Community,

The conference team has tried hard to keep the cost of attending
Interaction'09|Vancouver as low as possible. We are aware that the cost
of the conference is still too high for some members of the community
who would like to attend. So we have come up with an idea to help you
and also help us with the conference. We need 30 volunteers to help us
out during the 4 days we are in Vancouver. If you are willing to lend us
8 hours of time to help run the conference over the 4 days we are
together we will give you a 50% discount.

[ISO] Survey data on schools

Can anyone on the list help me find survey data for technology in U.S.
grade & middle schools? I need to find out what percentage have
internet access and access to computers that can play a CD and DVD.

Interaction '09: Pay for workshops?

Well this caught me by surprise.

I've been busy making flight and hotel arrangements to attend Interaction
'09; now that they're done, I logged on to purchase the conference ticket.

This was what I saw on the program schedule:

...and I thought the entire program's events were open to all conference

Little did I know that some of the workshops listed on the 5th and 6th of
Feb were pre-conference workshops that charged an additional fee.

Specialized search forms - examples?

I am currently working on designing search forms for adverts service.

There are 4 main categories: houses, cars, jobs, holidays&travel. I am
looking for examples of good, usable search forms of these categories and
any advices.

My plan is to give users classic Google-style text-box search on 1st place,
specialized search form (with possibility of e.g. defining desired cubic
capacity of car's engine and so on) on the 2nd and additionaly link to very
detailed search form with some extra options. There is still a lot of
questions about details of each section, though.

Dashboard for non-trending data?

I've been tasked with designing an interface for an application that reports on SQL and Sharepoint data. I'd like the default home page of the application to present some sort of summary information, and I thought a dashboard would not only jazz things up a bit (I've also been asked to try to make reporting 'sexy' - not an easy feat!), but also provide an entry point for newer users.

However, dashboards tend to lend themselves to trend-type data, or reports that generate simple numerical results such as 'number of databases: 24'.
