A duflunky, rashoom and a zong

With regards to definitions, I am just reviewing Stephen Bayley's
book, Cars: Freedom, Style, Sex, Power, Motion, Colour, Everything.

In it there is a quote from Harley Earl, the famous Vice President of
Design at General Motors.

How we share work

I should just call this the Mozilla Labs + JJG + Drupal 7 post.

As has been mentioned in many, many, many, threads over the past week
and a half, JJG said some very interesting and inspiring things in his
keynote at the end of the IA Summit.

IA for the IxDA Media Library

HA. Didn't think you'd see a subject line like that one, didja? Figured that
would get your attention.

Seriously, though, I'm looking at the list of remaining Interaction '09
videos coming down the pike, and I'm excited to share them with the
community. But combine this with the list of Interaction '08 video, and the
body of videos is going to get unwieldy. Fast.

So here's an attempt at categorizing the video from both conferences. Don't
worry too much about how the navigation will be implemented; that's another
post entirely :-).

Google Reader: The Good and The Bad

After playing around with Google Reader, yes it is my first time, I
found it to be an amazing web app. However, I also found some awkward
stuff going on, for example:

- Add a subscription button: Searching feeds and adding using one
text field? Doesn't really line up in my mind.

Opportunities with Mozilla Labs and IxDA

Hi everyone,

We have been talking with Mozilla about how our two communities can tap into
each other, and I think there are some exciting ideas in the works. I've
seen some calls for a more open source approach to the work we do, so here's
your chance.

Many great ideas are on the table, but one opportunity available now is
working with them to build out what they're calling "The Chocolate Factory",
an area for sharing and tapping into innovation.

Avoiding subjective topics in meetings

Often, when dealing with clients, they love to discuss subjective
topics that have no validity, because they have no empirical
evidence. These could easily be obviated with usability studies, but
very often, clients do not want to these studies. Also, time with
clients is limited, so meetings are wasted on useless discussion and
not important decisions.

These topics can often include: colors, toolbar/button placement,
logo placement, transitions, etc.

Does anyone know of good "best practice" methods to avoid this
waste of time.

Visual cue for Type ahead input text fields?

I'm working on a web app which recently got type ahead functionality
added for the input text fields. There would be still some pages
where the type ahead functionality either won't be implemented or
would be turned off.

Here's what I'm trying to understand:

1) Is there any visual cue that can be added to input text fields
which has type ahead functionality implemented?
