[Event] Recap: IxDA New York's April Event at Liquidnet

Thanks to everyone who came out last Wednesday for Kim Goodwin's talk on
designing a unified user experience. It was nice to get a better
understanding of how Cooper Design approaches project work and their design
philosophy. A special shout-out to Kim for taking time out of her busy
schedule to speak to us, and to Liquidnet for providing the event space and
refreshements!

I hope to see all of you in a few weeks at our May event, “Experience
Themes: A Storymaking Technique Applied to Design” featuring Cindy Chastain.
The event takes place on Tuesday the 12th.

Usually when you design and conduct a user research study, you're focused on
keeping the methods sound, recruiting good users, and asking the right
questions, which is already a tall order. Unfortunately, no matter how well
you conduct your studies, your methods have little to do with how the
research ultimately gets used.

How to get better results from developers

Earlier this week at the local Utah IxDA meeting and over the last
while at various places I've heard the topic of how to deal with
developers come up. I was thinking about it and realized I had a lot
to say about it. Sorry for the length :)

I currently work at a very small company, less then 20. But compared
to the other stories I've heard lately from Interaction Designers
like myself in Utah, our company gets surprisingly consistent results
from our developers in regards to design.
