Bike-sharing design

I have been trying bike-sharing service in Rome and I think it is
quite a good idea. There are some weak points in the process though
and I'd like to ask if you guys know how other contexts solved them.

Some details about the service in Rome (www.roma-n-bike.com):

1. You get a refillable card linked to an online account
2. Some places in the center have stations wre you can get a bike.
You have to use your card to get one.
3.

Web Semiotics - Signs of the parameters of Web

Semiotics as defined in wikipedia

"Semiotics, also called semiotic studies or semiology, is the study
of sign processes (semiosis), or signification and communication,
signs and symbols, both individually and grouped into sign systems.
It includes the study of how meaning is constructed and
understood."

I always wondered how much is it relevant to the webspace. Many a
times there is a very strong mismatch between the brands portrayal
and the web interface. This i feel has a strong point that
communicates with the user perception.

changing standards for multi touch, multi user interfaces?

i'm currently in a master's program in interactive media at london
college of communications. for my dissertation, i'm discussing the
implications multi touch, multi user interfaces would have on current
information architecture standards. for example, navigation for a
multi touch, multi user interface needs to be somewhat universal or
symmetric, something that is not taken into account by current IA
standards.

in your work experience has anyone seen other considerations for
multi touch interfaces that are not taken into account by current
standards?

thank you for your help!

What are the skills of an Interaction Designer

Hello everybody,
Since I am a new design student, I wonder what are the skills that an
Interaction designer requires to be able to make mark in the outside world.
As in what are the things that he must know ? Specific softwares, Desigbn
approaches, books etc.
Can someone guide ?
Thanks for your prrecious time.

[Event] Portland, OR - Reading and Collaborating in a Digital Age - Wednesday July 8 at 7pm (CHIFOO: Computer-Human Interaction Forum of Oregon)

Reading is an inherently social experience: what we read and how we
read it is shaped by who we know and the broader communities we
belong to. With that in mind, Cathy will take a fresh look at the
future of eBooks and how we get there from here.

IxDA Local Oslo

Dear IxDA's

We have taken the first steps in starting a local group in Oslo,
Norway. We are aiming to have our first event this fall and would
like to hear from anyone interested in attending or contributing.

Initially we are aiming to arrange an informal gathering to meet
other members, talk shop, client horror-stories, and share
suggestions about activities and topics for future IxDA Oslo events.

We welcome all practitioners and look forward to this great
opportunity to get to know other Interaction Designers in Oslo.

Thanks in advance for all your support.

Niklas
