UCD vs Design Again? Really?!?

The way to make better software is through a focus on your customers,
a good deal of top-notch engineering, good design to be married with
that engineering, and an ability to market and sell the product.
That's the whole point: It's not about just users.

Design Strategy / Business Rethink - How to communicate

I have found that doing video scenarios are very effective for this
type of high level design communication. Doing video prototypes are
relatively easy to do on a budget (time & cash). and b/c they are
mostly smoke & mirrors you can be very futuristic. Like concept car
design itself the goal is to set a vision and not be precise on
features. the features are props to tell the bigger story, so don't
let them distract.

UCD vs Design Again? Really?!? [was: We don't blah blah blah]

Jared, Andrei, Charlie, et al,

I'm writing as someone working full time in the software industry for over
10 years and a hobbyist/wannabe for most of my life. I came up through the
ranks with no formal computer, science, or design education. The only
degree I hold is in history and humanities.

We don't make consumer products, hence no need for a User Centered Design development process.

Where are all the UX freelancers/consultants in NYC?

I'm on a desperate search for independent user experience
professionals in NYC. There just seem to be so few.

Please fill out this survey if you’re a self-employed UXer in the NYC
area and pass on to any of your friends who fit the bill.

Indicators for cells with multiple values in a datagrid

Hello, IxDers,

I need to indicate that specific cell in a read-only datagrid contains not
one, but multiple values. Putting the cell in focus would reveal the values
in it.

The project team have suggested displaying "Multiple..." link in the cell.
Clicking the link would open a popup showing the values.

Contract requirements that ensure usability issues are addressed

To be honest - I don't think I'd try that technique. Never seen
attempts to specify usability standards via contract to be effective
in any way.
