Appropriate use of 'i' information messages

A colleague has asked for some best practice guidelines around the use
of 'information' ('i') messasges.

My advice has been to carefully consider the appropriateness of
including 'information' messages, so that they're only used where
they add real value; and to ensure that the tone, wording, and
appearance makes them easily distinguishable from error messages.

I'd like to provide some generic, good examples of where information
messages work well to help illustrate the guideline.

I've already suggested that they could be used as a 'success'
message at the end of an action, but other than t

Problems with axure vertical widgets.

Currently experiencing problems with creating a left hand vertical widget
within axure while still maintaining the visual style of the site. The trade
off that I am stuck with is between having a site that is as visually
accurate as possible or a site which contains all of the navigational
functionality which the client requires.

I'm looking to see whether anyone else has experienced problems with the
default vertical widget and found ways around the problem.

Golden oldies: pre-web-era book recommendations

We have a lot of great communication and design-related books
published in last 15 years, but there are others from 30+ years ago
whose content still rings true. Sometimes they may speak even more
loudly than when they were first published and remind us that many
concepts we're exploring today aren't always so new after all.

Some like those from Marshall McLuhan, Edward de Bono, and
Christopher Alexander are still talked about and mentioned once and a

Choosing the right university

Hi all
I decided to go to university and study Ixd, but the more I search
the more I get confused and I don't know which university is right
for me.
my situation: I want to work in the web industry.
I don't have 10,000 $ for a semester!
I am very serious about this.
I found Umea and Malmo to be good and free, but there is other options
such as venice or royal college in london.
If I had the money I would go for CMU.
what should I do?
