Master's student looking for an IxD10 ticket

Is there anyone who will do a ticket transfer to educate a future IxD
professional (full or student registration)?

I'm an HCI design Master's student at Indiana University really
wanting to go to IxD10. I've been on a tight budget and wasn't sure
if I could make it this year until tickets were sold out. The balcony
just won't be the same.

Thanks!

Can USAFIS guarantee a U.S. Green Card?

No; however, it can guarantee that if a person is eligible for the
Green Card Lottery program that the individual's application will
qualify for the program. USAFIS is a professional pair of eyes to
make sure what you write and fill out meets the standards of the U.S.
State Department. All too often, people who register for this
wonderful opportunity do not make into the front door due to their
application being disqualified. In 2004, over 10 million people
applied for the U.S. Green Card Lottery program and over 2 million
were automatically disqualified.

Software for transcription?

Can anyone recommend software for automatically transcribing audio
from user interviews? The audio could be from a voice or video
recorder.

Thanks,
Suzanne

Flash Workshop in Dallas on March 6th

Some shameless promotion, but for a good cause. I am putting together
a Flash Boot Camp with Dave Gillem, Creative Director at Travelocity
on March 6th in Dallas.

We are going to use the money to get his basketball team some new
uniforms. The class promises to be a great value, as Dave teaches
Flash to design students at a local university.

The workshop is hands-on with plenty of real world examples. The
cost is only $50, which includes a light breakfast and lunch. See
more details at http://www.bigdworkshop03.eventbrite.com.

The nuts and bolts behind 4636 in Haiti

I've been following the work of Ushahidi for a while now. They've come up
with an emergency response system for Haiti based on short text messages and
Kreyol-speaking volunteers with intimate knowledge of their locations. They
make this data available to other organizations. I'm really impressed by the
design of this entire system; especially how technology is
lowest-common-denominator and hardly matters, and people form the core of
the system.

"discuss at ixda.org"

"The solution must be common for both BrewMP and Android platforms."

How strong is this requirement? Will people be using both platforms
regularly?

Both of your suggestions could work, and could even be combined. I'm sure
you have prototypes, so start testing them with actual users, and you'll
have a better idea of what to do.
