Need advice for starting a career in UX/Interaction Design.

Hello everyone,

I'm having a lot of trouble getting a job in UX/Interaction Design.

I've seen a lot of discussion with people in the same situation as me, but I'm wondering what I'm doing wrong or what I could improve on. (specifically in my case)

Here are the things I've been doing/done...

I've recently graduated with an HCI major at the University of Washington. I've taken as many classes I can with design, interaction design, user experience, etc.

I could not agree with you more re do what you want, do what you are good at plus learn to market yourself. No one else can or will do it with the same passion.

What UX Podcasts Do You Guys Listen To?

Lately, I've broadened my typical podcast listening to include more UX and Web oriented podcasts. Some of these I'm REALLY digging and bring some lively conversations at work and are a great way to stay in the know with things, concepts and the industry.

What are some that you like? 

Here's some of my favs:

UIE Brain Sparks (SpoolCast) -- Jared Spool's podcast.
The Pipeline with Dan Benjamin

Creating your User Experience Dream Team - positions and titles

Hi all,

Imagine you had a sizable budget and have been tasked to create an entire user experience team from scratch.

You're allowed to hire one person per function. What's your line-up?

Here's my skinny line-up:

User Researcher | Information Architect | Interaction Designer | Visual Assets Producer

Possibly combining the IA and IxD or combining the IxD and VD.

Hi Richard,

I was simply wishing to point out that buying in general is a situation where I think it should be reasonable to question whether the customer has sufficient information to make an informed decision. I would think it fair to assume that consumer electronics as well as as software, whether in web or not, are very difficult to judge without special interest to do so or previous exposure to them and their alternatives.

What comes to needs, if we explain everything by saying it satisfies some need, yes, we only buy things we need.
