Does it worth doing a 7000£ Masters to become a UX designer?

Dear IXDA,

I have been a member of a few months now, since I have decided that I would like to specialise my career towards UX design after a degree in Multimedia Tech. and Design.

I have been pondering on what makes a UX designer, how does one call oneself as a HCI specialist or UX designer, there are hardly any specialised degrees on this subject.

Creating a usability database

I'm looking to get the company running usability across many brands and have been thinking how to go about ensuring an ongoing source of testing participants.

Has anyone thought about building a list of people who would be willing to act as testers for some usability? I know that there are commercial lists available, but surely we could generate a more "open source" option.

Let me know your thoughts...

London IxDA / Design Meetup Wed, 26-Jan, 18:00

I'm traveling to London from NYC next week. If you're around and can come out and play, I'd love to meet up. The working day right now is Wednesday, January 26th after work. Depending on where everyone is, we'll choose a location in this thread. Let's start with Moorgate / Liverpool Street as a neighborhood and see if anyone is close.

Add to this thread if you'll be around and we'll make something happen. I'm also open on Tuesday night.

Cheers,
- Nasir

Freelance with good children's Ux needed for bid and win of substantial development!

We are aiming to bid for two projects with an existing large media client. The projects are aimed at the 2-12 age range. Previously, we have worked within their design templates and worked from Ux to the backend. These are two medium-sized projects that will probably use a team of 3-4 user-experience designers if the bid is won.

At this stage we are seeking acceptance for responding to a full ITT. This means we need to have sufficient skills in the team with a background in the target market. At least two previous projects are desirable.

What's happening?

I had heard a while ago there was some movement with the London chapter of IxD and was wondering what is the latest? You have had one event and I didn't see any feedback on these pages, twitter, etc; or any feedback about your meet-up to discuss what your plans are.

Given there are so many active industry groups I am wondering where IxDA fits and what you are planning to do.

Apologies if the information is somewhere else and I missed it.

Cheers

Supporting the development of IxDA (London)

Hi,

I'm wondering if there are any local London folk interested in meeting up to discuss how we could support the development of the IxDA.

I'm thinking of an informal meet to:
- identify who is interested (if any),
- and if there is interest, planning subsequent meets, and
- come up with some ideas of ways in which we can help.

Cheers,
-- Rob
