I'm currently based in the Philippines / Hong Kong and am heading back to London (I'm British) in a few weeks when I've wrapped up work here. I should be here Monday 3rd June and I'd like to attend the next IxDA meeting in London to meet you guys and network.
My questions are about London: What's the work situation like there? And who are the best people to contact?
If you are an experience design professional passionate about Search,
you must attend the Enterprise Search Summit in NYC May 11-12. I have
spoken on designing social search in the enterprise as well as designing
search experiences a few times at this conference – and it really is
the best conference around this problem space. Our good friend Peter Morville will be one of the keynote speakers talking about Search & Discovery Design Patterns. Again - this is pretty cool.
Is there any patterns or best practice examples for flash video players on corporate sites? We
are running out a project on the company I work for and one of the
assets will be the development of a new universal player for the
company site, so it would be good to see if anyone have done any study
or have any examples in place already.
I am considering some UX training and am interested in either the CUA training offered by HFI or the UXD "Mini-Masters" program at Rutgers. Any thoughts on either of these programs? Unfortunately I don't have a lot of time or money to put into this training but am looking for a good overview program and something that I can put on my resume.
Thanks in advance for your input; here are links to both programs:
I'm conducting a survey on how people use UI patterns. Specifically, I'm
curious about whether people use the patterns in "Designing Interfaces" in
the ways that I thought they'd be used. Are they used as design advice?
Brainstorming tools? A lingua franca? Design instruction?
