Career advice for a recent graduate

I'm looking for some career advice - I'm in need of mentoring!

I'm not sure what type of role I should go for to start my career.

I recently graduated with a BSc IT (Multimedia Design). While studying I freelanced creating websites. I also developed an extensive internal web application from the ground up (using php/mysql) for a small company. This involved a lot of analysis and design work with the Director.

Survey regarding interaction design graduate education is still open.

Hi folks,

If you can spare 20min of your time, I'd really appreciate a bunch
more responses to my survey on interaction design graduate

While it is complex and long, I think it can help us all better
understand the needs of interaction design education. I plan on
making the data public later in the month of December.

Both educators and hiring managers can really benefit from this
information as interaction design matures and need for better trained
interaction designers increases.

You can find it at

Thank you,

Choosing the right university

Hi all
I decided to go to university and study Ixd, but the more I search
the more I get confused and I don't know which university is right
for me.
my situation: I want to work in the web industry.
I don't have 10,000 $ for a semester!
I am very serious about this.
I found Umea and Malmo to be good and free, but there is other options
such as venice or royal college in london.
If I had the money I would go for CMU.
what should I do?

Masters Programs in Interaction Design and Design Management at University of Kansas

Dear IXDA Members,

Last January, 2008 The University of Kansas launched two new
professional graduate programs: one in Interaction Design and another
in Design Management. The programs were years in the making and are
headed up by myself, Michael Eckersley and Richard Branham, with other
strong contributing faculty. More on Richard and myself below.

US News thinks we have potential!

I saw that US News recently ran an article on the "Best Careers of 2008"
and a new addition this year is "Usability/User Experience Specialist",
which arguably we are. This seems like a great sign that we are nearing
the tipping point, along with all of the good and bad things that come
along with it.

Personally, I was excited to see it and rushed in to see what they were
