Talk Overview
Your design system isn’t only a library, it’s your organization’s culture of building. In this talk, Manager of Product Design Jeff Putka and Senior UX Engineer Josh Kriese will co-lead a discussion on their learnings from successfully building, launching, maintaining and managing Design Systems across multiple organizations and domain spaces. The discussion will center on how team dynamics within the Design System are critically important for fostering successful external team relationships. Cross-functional collaboration within a Design System team can either be a significant source of friction, or something that empowers and strengthens the design culture of an organization. Throughout the discussion, we’ll take a dive into critical learnings and practical solutions for creating and maintaining a successful Design System at any scale including:

  • The Design/Engineering relationship
  • Designing for code as an experience
  • Maintaining a service mindset
  • Design System problem = everyone’s problem

Let’s start thinking systematically!
