In this talk, we explore principles of sustainable interaction design and discuss relationships between UX, energy consumption, carbon footprint, and some potential solutions that can enable carbon-conscious design practice. All of this requires a lot of fundamental transformation in terms of how we think about the environment, the design, and the link between the two.
When we talk about transformative design thinking in terms of carbon footprint, the other important piece is collaboration. Carbon-Consious design movement aims to bring together design practitioners as well as other stakeholders in the process. The design community really needs to come together and have serious conversations not only within ourselves, but also with a variety of stakeholders.
