Defuse – Design for Use

Our annual design event, Defuse – Design for Use, is back! Join us on Monday, 10 November 2025, at The Sugar Club for an evening of inspiration, insight, and connection with Dublin’s design community.

This year’s theme is “Reclaiming Design: Taking Back Purpose in an Automated Age.”
Algorithms accelerate, timelines compress, opinions polarise. Design is everywhere – yet increasingly reduced by speed and automation. What are we truly here for?

Reclaiming Design is a call to:
Reclaim influence – bring design back into strategic conversations
Reclaim care – embed ethics, equity, and sustainability into every decision
Reclaim craft – prioritise quality and creativity while keeping it deeply human
Reclaim clarity – navigate complexity with purpose and precision

Got a story, a challenge, or a bold idea? Our call for speakers is now open! If you’d like to join our lineup of 12 speakers and share your perspective on reclaiming design’s purpose, submit your proposal before Monday, 23 June 2025.
