With less than a week left to Interaction 21, it’s not too late to get your company to cover the bill. To help make the conversation go a little bit smoother, we’ve put together a list of five reasons why your boss should send you to Interaction 21.
Reason 1: No flights, no hotels, reduced ticket price
For the first time in its history, Interaction Week will be happening online in 2021. This year we go global, around-the-clock, and more accessible than ever. Since we won’t be meeting together in Montreal, no flights and no hotels will be needed. If you have attended an Interaction conference before, you know these expenses add up quickly, especially if your entire team is attending. Let your boss know that you can tune into whichever of the three conference streams that you want from the comfort of your own home.
The price of the conference itself is also more accessible this year. One ticket gives you access to all Interaction 21 sessions from 3–5 Feb 2021. For the in-person conference, tickets cost $1,500. This year, the reduced $500 ticket includes all speaker sessions (including keynote), networking, and social events. Considering travel, accomodation, and food, it costs about 10x less than attending in person. If there are 10 or more of your colleagues who want to attend, each ticket is discounted to $425 each.
Reason 2: Level-up your work & conversations
For several years, design conferences have tended to be overly optimistic, full of hope, and promoted an everything-is-fine attitude.
At Interaction 21, we will purposely flip that overly optimistic narrative, which is ultimately counterproductive, on its head. Our talks/roundtables and workshops will frankly address how dark things have become, how we need to listen and surrender, and encourage you to make necessary, meaningful sacrifices.
Reason 3: Make connections with the brightest minds in the industry
One of the most powerful assets of the Interaction Design Association (IxDA) is its people. There is something truly magical about being surrounded by like-minded people. Since 2003, IxDA has grown into a global community of over 200 local groups and more than 100,000 individuals.
By attending Interaction 21, you will be exposed to different perspectives by those leading the conversation around the world. These 100,000 individuals come from different walks of life, different companies, different countries, and different experiences.
After all, if we as interaction designers design almost anything for anywhere and anyone, isn’t it about time that we leave our comfort zones and focus on truly getting to know our users?
Through informal conversations, you’ll also be able to spread the word about how great it is to work where you do — and who knows, you might just recruit some great talent while you’re at it.
Reason 4: Be inspired & bring that inspiration back to your team
Get inspired so you can inspire. From this experience, you’ll be able to share acquired knowledge within your team and throughout your company. By learning from top innovators, product designers and user experience professionals, you can help your organization be the best it can be — more effective, innovative and successful.
Reason 5: Find new hires
Interaction 21 brings the whole community to the show, including top industry professionals looking to take their next leap professionally. If your team is looking for new talent, tell your boss that you could help scout your next hire or two.
