Interaction
Interaction is a global gathering of people interested in the leading edge of interaction design. It exists to elevate, inspire, provoke, and showcase the pluralistic practices of design in different parts of the world.

IxDA as an organization coalesced around the intention to build an international community of interaction designers while simultaneously encouraging face-to-face connection.
For the first few years this happened in Local Groups that formed in cities across North America, Europe, and India. Each Local Group was free to design and run their local community in ways that served the designers, environment, and market of that specific city.
The increasing number of Local Groups and the energy they generated led to the first global Interaction Conference in Savannah, Georgia in 2008. IxDA partnered with SCAD as the education host and 450 practitioners gathered for three days of inspirational talks and workshops. There was something unique about the conference—a true sense of community and openness—that reflected the organization’s values and ethos.
And that ethos extends to how the conference is run. Because IxDA is a decentralized organization, each conference is run by entirely different teams in entirely different cities, with the backing of an experienced global team. “You can make this be whatever you want to be,” is the spirit behind shaping a conference experience that reflects the culture of the host city and the flavor of design in that particular region of the world. So if you have a vision for the conference or want to get involved, let us know!
We think this is what makes IxDA and Interaction so special. The conference is both an exercise in gathering the community but also a marker to create content that captures the state of interaction design at a certain point in time. Through this process we now have more than 1000 conference videos available as an open source resource to anyone who wants to learn about interaction design.
