Unlocking creative capacity in Africa to drive social impact
What does it mean to be human-centred when working to create solutions to some of our world’s most pressing challenges? How might we create meaningful connections and develop trust in the communities we work to introduce new digital products and services? How can we continue to grow design talent and cities in Africa?
To address these questions, we launched UxP – Nairobi’s annual design and digital product development conference, bringing together the community of creative leaders, designers, developers, and entrepreneurs. The event was centred around practical approaches to driving innovation in emerging markets and tackled topics relevant to business design, leveraging technology like AI and machine learning for impact and techniques to harness the power of data for product decisions.
This talk offers insights into the vibrant landscape of designing digital products in Nairobi and building a diverse and vibrant community of multidisciplinary designers. I will highlight approaches to support the region’s efforts to build digital products and services that are innovative, user-friendly, and that follow best practices to enable sustainability, growth and scale.
