Alok Nandi, Eija Salmi, Lorenzo Imbesi, Ake Rudolf
CUMULUS and IxDA have launched the series of P-R-E to encourage focused conversations on identifying critical elements that further capacity building for designers, at different stages of their careers, from studies to professional practice to lifelong learning. These meetings take the form of working groups in partnership with institutions, academia, corporations, and policymakers, who are willing to push the global PRE agenda. We love enabling diversified and constructed spaces for conversations building on the synergy of education and research expertise, brought by Cumulusians, along with the practitioners’ perspectives by IxDA. In resonance with the conference theme: Today, as we look beyond the immediate perils of the pandemic, there is space for new conversations: we must redesign systems and structures based on the new essentials; Education provides essentials. Alok Nandi
Alok b. Nandi is busy with innovation, strategy, and interaction design for multiple companies and institutions. As a designer, creative director, design strategist, writer-director, he explores hybrid creative contexts via Architempo & Spread Design.
A regular speaker at international conferences and events (incl. PechaKucha Tokyo, TEDx Flanders). In parallel, he launched PechaKucha Brussels and IxDA groups in Brussels (Interaction Design Association).
Alok Nandi served on the IxDA Board of Directors, a.o. as President (Feb.2018-Feb.2020), and for the Design Declaration. Alok Nandi is also a professor of design & innovation at Institut Paul Bocuse, a hospitality-culinary, founded by chef Paul Bocuse, 3* Michelin, in Lyon.
Lorenzo Imbesi
Lorenzo Imbesi is an Architect, PhD, and Full Professor at Sapienza University of Rome, where he is Director of SDR Sapienza Design Research. Previously, he was an Associate Professor and the Chair of the Master of Design at Carleton University (CA). At the moment, he is a member of the Cumulus Association Executive Board, the Executive Committee of EAD European Academy of Design, the Board of SID Italian Society of Design, co-Editor of Design Principles and Practices Journal, and a member of the Editorial Board of The Design Journal and DIID Disegno Industriale.
Eija Salmi
Secretary General of Cumulus Association.
Eija Salmi works for Cumulus ever since its founding in 1990, consulting and helping with all content issues of the Cumulus conferences according to the board decisions, working group issues (content), negotiations of the future, projects and events, preparing the material for the meetings of Executive Board and the General Assembly, acting as the secretary of the above-mentioned meetings. A global connector and advocate for international education and research in art, design, and media.
She is a very down-to-earth person sleeping even in a horse-truck, having an educational background in finance, art history, and languages, jumped once from finance to university internationalization, loving it. Welcomed to join and contribute as a speaker, provocateur, participant to inspire and support.
Ake Rudolf
Experienced project director helping organizations to develop a strong profile through content-based programs, formats, and services. With a background in design, I promote people-centric co-creation methods to create value and opportunities for organizations, businesses and society. Currently responsible for the strategic development of International Design Center Berlin (IDZ), a key German design organization, and for leading the UX Design Awards, a global competition for excellent experiences.
