This talk will present how the topic of machine learning for artists and designers has been taught in the MA Media Design program at HEAD – Genève in the past years. We will explore the methodologies used in workshops to teach this subject, their limitations as well as the results. As a conclusion, we will offer new possibilities and future subjects that can be explored around IA and ML tools in the context of the arts and design school.

Course leader MA Media Design HEAD – Genève
Alexia Mathieu is a design strategist, researcher and the course leader of the MA Media Design program at HEAD – Genève. She has led design strategies for several interactive products at New Deal Design in San Francisco and Crispin Porter + Bogusky in Boulder, Colorado and London. With a BA in textile design and an MA in Material Futures from Central Saint Martins, Alexia has built a multi-disciplinary background from interaction design, textile design to advertising. She is currently leading a research project on the narrative potential of digital fashion in virtual worlds at HEAD – Genève.
