Chris Hayward
IxDD 2021: Asia/Oceania
Chris is a design researcher and applied anthropologist. He currently works at the intersection of architecture, experience design and strategy at global design firm Populous. Chris holds degrees in anthropology and design, and is currently enrolled in a PhD bringing together the fields of medical anthropology and material culture with a focus on rural healthcare cultures in Australia. His interest in interaction design is based on the deep historical ways that technology has been central to human life and the transformation of people and cultures. Of relevance to World Interaction Design day is the production and consumption of digital technologies and content as part of places of mass gathering and new urban developments in multi and transcultural contexts.
How do we make ethical and culturally tuned design decisions when everyone is your potential customer? This session will explore the increasing globalization of design, digital and physical experiences, technologies and consumption asking the question: is it even possible to design solutions that are globally ethically safe, and culturally relevant?
